2002 Exam Results

The Interim results of the 2002 NCEA Level 1 have been received by the College.

With the implementation of the NCEA comes a new way of reading and interpreting results – no longer can we rely simply on one global figure, but we need also to look at the results in each standard in each subject. However, having said that, it is possible to analyse the total results in terms of the number of credits each student gained.

To be awarded NCEA Level 1, students were required to attain 80 credits with compulsory credits in literacy and numeracy. As can be seen by the graph, 70% of the 2002 Year 11 cohort obtained 80 credits to achieve NCEA level 1.

All NCEA Level 1 achievements gained do carry through to NCEA Level 2. This means that students are given credit for successful achievement - a substantial change to the School Certificate qualification that operated on a Pass/Fail system.

University Bursary results were pleasing. Students obtained:
4 Scholarships
10 A Bursaries
25 B Bursaries
with 82% of the cohort gaining entry to university.
